Indications:
- Patients suffering from megaloblastic anemia.
- For depressed patients as an augmentation for antidepressant drug effects.
- Patients with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, the ones on chemotherapy and other patients who are taking low dose methotrexate.
- Women who are taking oral contraceptive pills (OCPs), or in the preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum periods.
- Patients with cardiovascular disease, renal dysfunction, thrombosis and osteoporosis.
Dosage: Recommended dose is 800mcg daily. Qfol dosage can be adjusted based on individual needs.
Contraindication: Hypersensitivity to any components of Qfol.
Precautions: Patients suffering from pernicious anemia.
Possible side effects: Qfol is safe and well-tolerated, also it is generally recognized as safe. Although it is rare, like all products, Qfol can cause side effects that include:
Allergic reactions include itching, skin rash, hives or swelling.
Gastrointestinal problems (diarrhea, upset stomach and etc.)
Interactions: Although Qfol is generally well tolerated, dose adjustment or temporal separation may be considered when co-administered with antifolate agents (such as methotrexate and trimethoprim) or certain antiepileptic drugs (e.g., phenytoin and phenobarbital), as it may potentially alter their efficacy.”
